Why learn Hapki-Zen to Hapkido?
The purpose of present martial arts is to make one physically and mentally healthy and to protect oneself from outside harm-for survival purposes.
But the important part is that the people’s physical ability differs by age group, which requires the need for different curriculums for each age group to suit the martial arts of today.
This leads to my Sul/Ye/Do/Zen system.
Hapki-Zen, birthed from Hapkido, is a martial art that one could keep training from 5~100 years old passing through Sul to Zen.
For example, ‘Ye’ is still a young part of oneself-which means to attack an opponent’s pressure points for self-defense because they’re not strong enough physically to do twisting,
but as a teenager, if they learn properly they could suppress someone by the use of joint locks.
For Adulthood and Elders-which don’t feel as much need for self-defense should continue to use it to keep its fits. This martial art could ‘release ki, activate the cells to expand, and
stimulate the fascia for curing old injuries or ailments by doing certain joint locks in a different way which makes this as a mixture yoga and qigong. This also could interact with music
that allows to almost "dance" with a partner. Through partner training, you also add massage into the mix. This makes this martial arts a perfect tuning of body and soul.
It will also work well for the prevention of dementia, metabolic syndrome, and weakening immunity by the use of balancing exercises to keep the central axis in proper alignment.
